Update: January 25, 2023
Pandemic Policy
Our Pandemic Policy was designed to be progressive and responsive to the changes in the Coronavirus Pandemic. Our intention is to be able to follow the guidance of both our spiritual practices and the Public Health Care System including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State of California’s Cal-OSHA, and the Los Angeles County Public Health System.
Remember: People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a high-quality mask or respirator when indoors in public.
If you are immunocompromised, learn more about how to protect yourself.
We are located in Los Angeles County and will be adhering to and recommending the following guidelines:
HIGH:
MEDIUM:
LOW: (As of January 20, 2023, we are in this level of risk)
The Sanctuary for Spiritual Living is not checking vaccination status. We will set our indoor mask requirement based on the current Community Level of Los Angeles County.
Spiritually, we remind people to observe your own judgements about the choices people make regarding mask wearing. It is wise to understand that each of us is making what we see as healthy choices for our own lives. When we observe someone we may erroneously think they are making choices from the same ideas we are. Each one is acting on their own information, which may include their doctor’s recommendations based on pre-existing conditions, the concern for a loved one’s health and medical conditions, the recognition that they are working in an essential job that includes possible exposure and a host of other individual reasons. Our desire is to honor the choice that each person makes. This includes their right to choose differently from my own choice and a right to social distance and respect.
The Sanctuary is providing color coded badges to help us know someone’s comfort level with social distance.
Red badges mean “I am not open to hugs, prefer to sit or stand in conversations with social distance of six feet being honored.” It does not mean that I do not want to be your friend, join in conversation or greet you when social distance is honored..
Yellow badges mean “I am more comfortable social distancing. Please ask me before you sit by me or approach me for personal greetings or hugs.” It does not mean that I do not want to be your friend, join in conversation or greet you when social distance is honored.
Green badges mean “I am open to hugging or touching. I respect and honor those who wear different colors.”
As of May 19, 2022, Los Angeles County is at the Medium Community Level per the CDC website.
Sunday Colored Badges: We all desire to love and respect each other, we are so delighted to see each other that the temptation is to spontaneously rush towards each other and hug.
But in this time period we need to find a way to signal each other about where we are with social distancing. and we need to be able to tell before we are a foot away with outstretched arms! No one wants to make a social blunder. And we all want to create a safe environment for all the different choices that we as individuals are making.
To this end, we have created a colored badge system for church, so we can tell what are friends want and need to feel safe in church. So, what is your color?
What’s Your Color?
The color green – OPEN
Green indicates you are open to hugging or touching AND it will show that you respect and honor those who wear a different color.
The color yellow – THINKING
Yellow tells people you are still measuring your options and are more comfortable social distancing. Yellow tells people “Ask me before you approach or touch me.”
The color red – DISTANCING ✋
Red is for people who know they desire to remain socially distanced.
*As a gesture of love we will not be asking people to disclose or prove their vaccination status.
